Clinical Coordinator – Inpatient Diabetes (Joslin Diabetes Center
Reporting to the Diabetes Education Supervisor, the Clinical Coordinator collaborates with other disciplines within the hospital to insure the delivery of quality care to inpatients with a known or suspected diagnosis of diabetes. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for managing and reporting outcomes data related to the quality of care of the inpatient diabetes program and serves as the primary clinical liaison/resource for physicians, health care providers and administrative staff.
Requirements include:

Title: Dietitian (Registered), Diabetes Educator
Position Summary: The Dietitian is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in the out-patient diabetes education program. The Dietitian utilizes the care process consistent with their license or certification including initiation of interventions within individual scope of practice. The Registered Nurse, CDE is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan. The RD incorporates diabetes education principles that are current and reflective of the standards set forth by the American Diabetes Association, The American Association of Diabetes Educators and The American College of Endocrinologists in respect to the management of type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. Licensed and registered care providers responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base, may document the assessment, plan, intervention and evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy.
By participating in educational activities, the Dietitian assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and graduate of an accredited program for Registered Dietitians, Master’s degree preferred. CDE eligible.
License/Certificate: Registered by the American Dietetic Association.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience caring for people with diabetes in an out-patient setting.
Performance Expectations: Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
Work Environment: Position requires considerable walking and standing. May require some evening and weekend work. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
